With no end in sight for the evacuation, we’d like to launch a second coordinated effort to help those displaced. Several sites are reporting a need for personal care and baby items. We’d like to assemble as many of these things as possible for delivery to the Fairgrounds (1500+ guests) and Neighborhood Church (300+ guests). Needs include:

  • Towels (gently used is fine)
  • Shampoo
  • Soap/body wash
  • Feminine hygiene
  • Diapers
  • Baby food
  • Baby formula

We’re aiming for a delivery on Thursday afternoon. If you are able to contribute, please reply to this email (mobilizechico at gmail dot com) for drop-off location. We also have a volunteer shopper if you are able to make a monetary donation.
Thanks for your generosity–kindness is its own form of resistance!

notice-about-oroville-relief-efforts

Thanks for all of your inquiries and desire to help evacuees. We’ve been calling around like mad this morning and while we would all like to personally deliver relief to a human or pet, it seems the most useful thing we can do is to donate money to groups who have the infrastructure to deliver.

We encourage you to donate if you can to the North Valley Community Foundation Oroville Evacuation Fund (http://nvcf.org/) or North Valley Animal Disaster Group (www.nvadg.org).
If you want do do some direct service, East Ave Church (1184 East Ave.) needs volunteers to help organize donations and systems. Phone is 342-1806 but is likely to be busy. Just head over if you can can.
With basic needs apparently covered and until clearer info is available, let’s just plan to bring some homemade Valentine’s love tomorrow. We’re hoping to get hundreds of small bags of cookies/treats to deliver to the various shelters. If you’d like to participate, please reply for details on timing and delivery.
Thanks!
